What I Do and How I Do It

I help people in recovery — whether just beginning or years into sobriety — build lives of stability, meaning, and freedom. My work blends clinical skill, spiritual depth, and lived experience. Here’s what that looks like:

What I Do

Recovery Support

  • Abstinence Goals – Supporting clients in setting and sustaining clear goals for sobriety, tailored to their stage of recovery.

  • Relapse Prevention – Identifying triggers, building coping strategies, and creating sustainable routines to reduce risk of relapse.

  • Healing Trauma and Grief – Addressing the underlying wounds that often fuel addiction, creating space for lasting healing.

Spiritual Integration

  • Cultivation of Meaning – Helping clients explore values, purpose, and deeper sources of strength.

  • Spirituality as a Tool for Growth – Using spiritual principles (from 12-Step traditions, Christian faith, and contemplative practices) to guide resilience and renewal.

  • Spirituality as a Path to Healing – Walking with clients who wish to draw on faith or spiritual practice as part of their recovery journey.

How I Do It

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – Building psychological flexibility by helping clients clarify values and take meaningful action.

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) – Meeting clients exactly where they are, exploring ambivalence, and strengthening intrinsic motivation for change.

  • Spiritual Language and Concepts – Integrating spiritual wisdom when desired by the client, never imposed, always respectful of individual beliefs.

  • Regular Goal & Progress Assessments – Ensuring therapy remains focused, intentional, and tied to meaningful outcomes.

  • Exploring Family of Origin & Relationships – Understanding how past patterns influence present struggles and relationships in recovery.

  • Working with Deep Emotions – Creating space to process grief, loss, identity shifts, and the changes that come with long-term healing.
